What financial instruments are used for

Financial instruments are used to reduce counterparty risk, secure payment obligations, support delivery commitments and create a documented banking framework for complex commercial transactions.

Our advisory approach

We analyse the commercial purpose, parties involved, bankability, documentation, wording, escrow requirements and risk profile before recommending the most appropriate structure.

Standby Letter of Credit - SBLC
01

Standby Letter of Credit - SBLC

A Standby Letter of Credit is a bank undertaking used as a payment security instrument. It gives the beneficiary a bank-backed claim if the applicant fails to perform or pay.

Typical use

Commodity trades, project finance, purchase contracts, credit enhancement, tender obligations and structured commercial transactions.

Procedure

Compliance review, transaction analysis, applicant verification, wording preparation, bank coordination, issuance route confirmation, beneficiary review and final transmission.

Main requirements

Applicant KYC, company documents, proof of funds or collateral capacity, contract, beneficiary details, wording, transaction background and bank coordinates.

Important note

ALO Traders assists with advisory and documentation. Final issuance depends exclusively on bank approval, compliance and collateral conditions.

Bank Guarantee - BG
02

Bank Guarantee - BG

A Bank Guarantee is a commitment issued by a bank to cover a defined obligation if the applicant does not fulfil contractual duties.

Typical use

Construction contracts, supply agreements, commodity deliveries, advance payment protection, tenders and international procurement.

Procedure

Contract review, guarantee type selection, wording alignment, compliance checks, financial capacity assessment, issuing bank review and final guarantee issuance.

Main requirements

Company KYC, contract or tender documents, beneficiary data, guarantee amount, expiry date, claim conditions, bank coordinates and collateral evidence.

Important note

Every BG must match a real underlying transaction. Banks normally reject unclear, unsupported or non-compliant requests.

Documentary Letter of Credit - DLC
03

Documentary Letter of Credit - DLC

A Documentary Letter of Credit is a payment instrument where the issuing bank pays the seller when compliant commercial and shipping documents are presented.

Typical use

Import/export trades, commodity shipments, machinery purchases and cross-border supply contracts.

Procedure

Sales contract review, LC application, draft terms, document list definition, issuing bank approval, advising bank notification, shipment and document presentation.

Main requirements

Commercial invoice, proforma invoice or contract, buyer and seller KYC, shipment details, Incoterms, ports, product specification and agreed LC wording.

Important note

The success of a DLC depends on precise documents. Even small discrepancies can delay or block payment.

Escrow Advisory
04

Escrow Advisory

Escrow is a controlled settlement structure where funds or documents are held by a neutral escrow agent until agreed conditions are satisfied.

Typical use

Acquisitions, commodity trades, large deposits, staged payments, document exchange and cross-border settlement risk reduction.

Procedure

Transaction review, escrow structure design, escrow agent selection, agreement drafting, KYC and AML checks, deposit confirmation and final release.

Main requirements

Parties KYC, source of funds information, contract, release conditions, escrow agreement, beneficiary payment details and provider compliance approval.

Important note

ALO Traders does not replace licensed escrow providers. We assist with structure, documentation and coordination.

Performance Guarantee
05

Performance Guarantee

A Performance Guarantee protects the beneficiary if the contractor or supplier fails to perform the agreed contractual obligation.

Typical use

Construction, infrastructure, supply, manufacturing and long-term service contracts.

Procedure

Review of performance obligation, contract analysis, guarantee wording, applicant capacity check, bank approval and issuance.

Main requirements

Signed contract, performance scope, amount, validity, beneficiary information, applicant corporate documents and compliance package.

Important note

The wording must clearly define when a claim can be made and what supporting documents are required.

Advance Payment Guarantee
06

Advance Payment Guarantee

An Advance Payment Guarantee protects a buyer who pays money upfront before goods or services are delivered.

Typical use

Production deposits, reservation of goods, mobilization, procurement and staged delivery contracts.

Procedure

Contract and payment schedule review, advance amount confirmation, guarantee wording, bank compliance, issuance and release under contract terms.

Main requirements

Commercial contract, advance payment amount, repayment or delivery schedule, beneficiary details, applicant KYC and issuing bank approval.

Important note

This instrument usually decreases as delivery or performance progresses, if reduction clauses are provided.
